  • INTRODUCTION

The international Mountain Museume  (IMM) is established with a purpose to record, document and chronicale the various developments and changes that has taken place in the past mainly in there areas they are, people living around the world mountain system the historic & scientific information of the origination of the world mountain system and various mountain activities which has established various world record in the field of mountaineering and other activities. Hence, in tune with the set objectives the museum exhibits include mountain, people and their culture, world mountain system, their geological formation, flora and fauna and the exhibits related with the mountain activities such as mountaineering, sking  etc. and in addition to mountaineering history and the development of mountaineering techniques and equipment over the years.( IMM) also aims to develop  it as an international Mountain Studies Centre by enchancing its archive for the researcher on above subject. The international Mountain Museum is built on a six-hectare site in lake side of Ppkhara that also boaster of an uninterrupted view of the great Himalayan range of western Nepal.

 

 

  • LOCATION

Pokhara, an idyllic city in the Western Development Region has an added attraction in the form of the international Mountain Museum, the only museum of its kind in the world. The city is located 200km. West of Kathmandu, the capital of Nepal, and is situated at an altitude of 827m above the main sea Level. Referred to as the lake city, Pokhara has the serenity of the lakes and the awe-inspiring Himalayes  in the background creating an ambience of tranquility and magical spell.
